Venezuela to send a new ambassador to the U.S. once there is a new administration

President Hugo Chávez announced that as soon as the United States has a new administration, he will request approval to send a new ambassador, and he will also receive a new U.S. ambassador to Venezuela.

”We will see what happens with elections in the United States.  As soon as a new administration in Washing is sworn in, we will request approval to send and receive new ambassadors, with the hope and condition that they simply respect us.  All we ask for is respect,” emphasized the President.

In a ceremony on Sunday, President Chávez noted that contrary to what some have said, Venezuela is not a threat to anyone. “We are not a threat to anyone on the planet or in this continent.  We are open to cooperating with all of the peoples on Earth, including the people of the United States.”

The President added that “the only thing we ask for is respect for our people and our government; ff we do not receive it, we will demand it.”
