The Embassy of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela invites you to an evening of classical and latinamerican guitar music with Jes?s ?lvarez

Guitar player Jesus Alvarez was born in Caracas, Venezuela. He studied guitar in Caracas with Manuel Enrique Perez Diaz at the music school ?Lino Gallardo? and with R?mulo Lazarde at the Caracas Ateneo. He was granted a scholarship from the National Council of Culture (Conac) to attend the Royal College of Music in London, where he studied with Charles Ramirez (guitar) and Jeremy Dale Roberts (composition). There he earned the Performers Diploma, Certificate of Advanced Studies and ARCM (Associate of the Royal College of Music).
He has performed on many different stages, including one overseen by Leo Brouwer in Cuba. In Italy he studied composition at the Conservatory ?Giuseppe Verdi? in Milan with Giacomo Manzoni and at the Chigiana Academy in Siena with Franco Donatoni and Peter Maxwell Davis.
As a guitar player he has obtained several recognitions and awards, such as the ?Jack Morrison Prize? and the ?Madeline Walton Prize.? He has performed in many recitals throughout Europe, including those sponsored by the International Byron Society of London, the ?Fete de la Musique? of Besan?on, the ?Festa dell?Unita? of Milan, the ?Festival Internacional de Hondarribia? in Spain, and others.
In Venezuela he has performed in recitals sponsored by Fundacultura, the Ateneo de Caracas, the Universidad Simon Bolivar and participated in a gala concert at the ?Teresa Carre?o? theater with Alirio Diaz and Rodrigo Riera. He also performed for Venezuela National Television.
Alvarez has offered many recitals on different Italian stages such as the Castillo de Vezio in Varenna and the Palatrussardi of Milan. With the Rondo Veneziano and directed by composer Gian Piero Reverberi, he recorded the CD?s ?Concerto,? ?Mascarade,? and ?Visioni di Venecia,? all of which have obtained international recognition.
Currently, Mr. Alvarez resides in Italy, where he teaches guitar at the ?San Francesco? music school of Merate and ?Susanna Cappellotto? of Arcore. Also, he is a representative of the International Examination Board of Trinity College in London.
