Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro highlighted on Wednesday the diplomatic triumph of Venezuela to be reelected in the HRC (Human Rights Council) of the United Nations (UN).
On his Twitter account, @NicolasMaduro the President wrote: "A triumph of the Bolivarian Diplomacy of Peace Congratulations to the Chancellor Delcy Rodríguez and Ambassador Rafael Ramirez and his team Viva la Patria!".
He also thanked the international diplomatic support: "I thank the governments and peoples of the world reaffirming their support for the free, independent Venezuela, Chavista and Bolivarian".
"Victory of Venezuela at the UN. Great Moral Victory. We have been reelected for the Human Rights Council of the UN system" was the tweet in which the president announced the news.
Four days ago, the Venezuelan Foreign Minister announced the country's decision to opt for re-election as a member to the UN Human Rights Council for the period 2016-2018.
Through a press release, the Minister highlighted the role played by Venezuela in the international organization since November 2012, when its participation for the period 2013-2015 was made official, with 154 votes in favor.
"We know that the Venezuelan model is among the few in the world that provides warranty and protection of human rights in its constitutional system and beyond contemplate them constitutionally, we know that the issue of human rights is alive on the daily life of Venezuelans", said Rodriguez.
