Communiqué: Venezuelans with Dual Nationality who plan to travel to the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela

The Embassy of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela in the United States informs the general public of the following:

Resolution DM No. 029 of February 28, 2015, published in the Extraordinary Official Gazette of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela No. 6,177, of the same date, issued by the Ministry of People’s Power for the Interior, Justice and Peace, together with the Ministry of People’s Power for Foreign Affairs, establishes the procedures for the granting of a Tourist Visa to United States nationals and holders of ordinary passports issued by the authorities of that country.

Article 7 of the Nationality and Citizenship Act establishes the mandatory use of Venezuelan nationality as follows: "Venezuelans holding another nationality shall use his or her Venezuelan nationality for entry, stay and departure from the territory of the Republic. "

Consequently, and in accordance with  current Venezuelan law, citizens of Venezuelan nationality, regardless of whether they hold another nationality, DO NOT REQUIRE any visa for entry, stay and departure from the territory of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela.

Therefore, we recommend having a valid Venezuelan passport. To see the requirements for the issuance, renewal or extension of Venezuelan passports, please visit the passport section on the website of the Embassy of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela to the U.S.
