The Group of 77 and China expresses its firm rejection to the unilateral sanctions imposed by the Government of the United States against the sister Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela. We reaffirm, at the same time, that which was expressed on the Declaration adopted at the Group of 77 Summit of Heads of State and Governments that took place in the city of Santa Cruz de la Sierra which condemns the imposition of laws and rules with extra-territorial effects as well as all other forms of coercive economic measures, including unilateral sanctions, against developing countries.
The Group of 77 and China reiterates the urgent need to repeal such legislative measure taken against Venezuela that subverts the United Nations Charter and international law, particularly the principles of non-intervention in internal affairs, and the equality of rights and self-determination of peoples.
The Group of 77 and China express its solidarity and support to the Venezuelan Government in face of these violations of international law that do not contribute, in any way, to the spirit of political and economic dialogue and understanding between both countries. At the same time, we urge the international community to adopt urgent and efficient measures to eliminate the use of coercive unilateral economic measures against developing countries.
