The President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro Moros, congratulated the international tour led by the Elías Jaua Milano, Minister of People’s Power for Foreign Affair, as well as the meeting he had with Cardinal Pietro Parolin, Secretary of State for the Vatican, in Rome, Italy.
The President highlighted the willingness of high-level Catholic Church representatives to continue participating in the peace dialogues in Venezuela.
Foreign Minister Jaua, who attended the canonizations of Saints John Paul II and John XXIII, met with Cardinal Pietro Parolin, where he showed willingness to continue accompanying the process undertaken by the Venezuelan government and opposition.
The Foreign Minister extolled the Vatican’s importance to articulating the ties of brotherhood, tolerance, peace and social justice in Venezuela.
The Pope sent a message of goodwill toward the Venezuelan people and expressed his confidence that President Maduro will achieve the proposed goals for guaranteeing stability in the country. “I hope we can have those same levels of mutual respect and recognition with the Venezuelan Episcopal Conference,” Jaua said.
