The Government of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela emphatically rejects declarations made on Wednesday, February 19th, by the President of the United States, Barack Obama, given that they constitute a new and gross intervention in the internal affairs of our country, with the aggravating factor that they are based on false information and unsubstantiated assertions.
It is an offense to the historic land of the Aztecs, of Juárez, of Villa and of Zapata, of the noble and brave Mexican people, that President Obama, from that sibling nation, continues assaulting a free and sovereign country of Latin America and the Caribbean who policies, directions and decisions are the result of a democratically expressed popular will.
The declaration the independent governments and peoples of the world await, is the one in which the government of the United States of America explains why it finances, supports and defends opposition leaders who promote violence in our Homeland, and clarifies by what right Deputy Assistant Secretary Alex Lee sent a message from his government that attempts to impose conditions and threaten the Venezuelan State for its decision to bring to justice those responsible for the violent events of the past few days.
Finally, the Venezuelan Government reiterates that it will continue monitoring and taking the necessary actions to impede U.S. agents from instilling violence and destabilization, and to inform the world about the nature of the Obama Administration’s interventionist policies in our country.
