This year’s judicial calendar in Venezuela officially begins today with a session at which the country’s Supreme Court will present a review of its activities during 2013. The event will be attended by President Nicolás Maduro.
Heading the event will be Supreme Court President Gladys María Gutiérrez, who will offer a detailed account of the activities of the court over the last year.
This will be followed by a speech by Supreme Court Vice President Deyanira Nieves Bastidas.
Present will be all the magistrates of the judicial body, as well as members of President Maduro’s cabinet, members of the Bolivarian National Armed Forces, foreign diplomats, and judges from other courts, officials from government ministries, as well as additional guests.
The opening of the judicial session for the year is always held at the Main Auditorium at the High Tribunal, in accordance with Article 26 of the Law on Judicial Power.
