The Government of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela categorically rejects the declarations made by the chargé d’affaires of the Embassy of the United States in Caracas, Kelly Keiderling. These declarations are a confession of open interference in the internal affairs of Venezuela, the reason for which this functionary was declared persona non grata and urged to leave Venezuelan territory.
It similarly repudiates the expulsion of Chargé d’Affaires Calixto Ortega Ríos of the Embassy of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela in Washington as well as the Second Secretary Mónica Sánchez and Consul Marisol Gutiérrez of the Consulate of Venezuela in Houston. This cannot be considered a reciprocal decision, observing the unequivocal conduct of our functionaries, who have not dared at any time to sustain meetings with groups who are against the Government of President Barack Obama or with persons interested in acting against the U.S. Government.
The President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela wishes to revindicate the work carried out in the United States of America by the aforementioned Venezuelan compatriots, of whom we are proud, for they have honorably represented the Homeland of the Liberator, Simón Bolívar and of Commander Hugo Chávez.
