The President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Hugo Chavez, on behalf of his government and the Venezuelan people, sends its most heartfelt words of condolence to the people of Japan, especially to the families and friends of the victims of the devastating 8.9 earthquake that struck the northeast area of the country, leaving behind a trail of destruction and pain.
Acting under direct commands of the president, the Venezuelan Vice-President, Elias Jaua, directly contacted the Ambassador of Venezuela in Japan, Seiko Ishikawa, who confirmed the good condition of the Venezuelan embassy’s staff in Tokyo, and requested permanent information on the Venezuelan community residing in Japan.
Likewise, the Venezuelan vice-president contacted the Japanese Ambassador to Venezuela in order to present the condolences of the Bolivarian Government and offer material and logistical resources necessary to assist in rescue and reconstruction operations.
