Some 17,575,975 Venezuelans are registered to vote in the legislative elections being held on Sunday, September 26, said Venezuela’s National Electoral Council (CNE).
"The final voter roll published on July 8 consists of 17,772,768 voters," said the electoral institution. Of that amount,57,010 are Venezuelans living abroad who may vote for representatives to the Latin American Parliament at one of the 210 polling stations to be installed in the 126 diplomatic missions located in 85 countries around the world.
By Venezuelan law, Venezuelans living abroad are not allowed to cast votes for members of the National Assembly.
For the election, foreigners residing in the country are excluded from the voter rolls, but in accordance with Article 64 of the Constitution of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, foreigners who have lived in Venezuela for over 10 years may vote in municipal and state elections.
