The Minister of People’s Power for Interior and Justice, Tarek El Aissami, reported that on Tuesday, April 13, the Bolivarian National Guard (GNB) seized a two-ton shipment of marijuana in the state of Nueva Esparta (Northeast). The shipment was thought to have come from Colombia.
Through telephone interview with the Venezuelan state TV channel VTV, El Aissami said, “This is part of the results that proves the efforts by the national government in the fight against drug trafficking.”
He said that the Venezuelan government is waging a relentless war against organized criminals who use Venezuela’s territory for their destructive business. “The successful results continue placing Venezuela as a model country in the fight against drugs,” he said. “The results of these findings contradict the unfounded insults by some sectors the opposition.”
The Minister said that he will announce new measures to strengthen the fight against drug trafficking, which, he noted, are the main cause of violence in Venezuela.
