Venezuela is preparing for the next celebration of the Third Cultural Festival with the Peoples of Africa. This event will be the precursor to the Second South America – Africa Summit (ASA).
The Festival’s slogan is “The Peoples at the Top” and will be held from September 20 – 27. The event will begin with the People’s America – Africa Parade, which will follow the route from Home of Liberator Simon Bolivar to the Hotel Alba Caracas.
The festival will serve as a space where “citizens can recognize themselves as part of the same origin, the same struggle for existence, liberty, and self-determination,” read a statement from the Venezuelan Foreign Minister.
In this sense, the Festival will encourage reflection and the exchange of ideas to develop a strategic decision-making agenda for the integral development of both continents.
The Festival will open space for participation and discussion through various events. Working groups have been created for the occasion, such as the “Circle of Knowledge”, “Thoughts and Words of the People”, “Inter-parliamentary Conference” and the “Festival of CULTORES.”
For example, the “Circle of Knowledge” will encompass the following activities: women’s meetings, workshops for rural workers, student and youth mobilization, and a council of school and university rectors; all with the participation of people from South America and Africa.
