On Tuesday the first Venezuela - France top level meeting was held in Caracas to promote bilateral cooperation in electricity, hydrocarbons, and petrochemicals. The meeting established the Complementary Agreement for Energy within the Framework Agreement for Cooperation. Also, a high level commission between the two countries was established.
During the meeting, the delegation presented the state of their respective energy sectors, detailing the characteristics and composition of current energy matrices and proposing alternatives to maximize their potential to guarantee improvements in the quality of life for their people.
Working groups were formed among representatives of Venezuelan and French companies that develop the energy sector. According to a statement, in the coming months they will evaluate the implemented projects and will propose new initiatives.
Representing the Ministry of People’s Power for Energy and Petroleum was Vice Minister Maria Gabriela Gonzalez, and representing France, Director General of the Energy and Climate Division for the Ministry of Ecology, Energy, Sustainable Development and the Sea, Pierre-Franck Chevet.
