US Delegation Unites with the People of Venezuela
Early Friday, hundreds of people congregated in Bolivar Plaza in Caracas to participate in an “Anti-Imperialist Cantata” in response to the political right’s campaign against President Hugo Chavez and in opposition to the installation of US military bases in Colombian territory.
At the same time, more than 50 countries held events in solidarity with the revolutionary people of Venezuela and to reject the interference of the United States in Latin America and the world.

During the conference “Venezuela, Zone of Peace” a former US Marine confirmed that the military base the US would install in Colombia “represents a serious threat to you all (Venezuelans).” He denounced large US corporations that attempt take advantage of the human and natural resources of Honduras after the military coup d’etat that overthrew President Manuel Zelaya.
US attorney and author Eva Golinger confirmed that this delegation demonstrates the support for President Chavez and the Bolivarian Revolution in the United States, as well as a condemnation of its aggressive policies.
Golinger said that during recently weeks she had spoken with “thousands of Colombians who oppose the installation of foreign military bases in their country and who wish to strengthen ties with their Venezuelan brothers and sisters. For that reason we must declare Venezuela a zone of peace.”
Organized citizens will continue demonstrating in favor of the Bolivarian Government Saturday in all the Bolivar Plazas in the nation, where people will also march against the president.
