The Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela and Spain, Nicolás Maduro and Miguel Angel Moratinos, visited the Caracas Synagogue on Monday afternoon, where they met with members of Venezuela’s Jewish community.
A press release from the Venezuelan Ministry expressed that the event was a good opportunity to exchange ideas and maintain the excellent relations between the Bolivarian government and the local Jewish community.
The ministers were received by a member of the World Jewish Congress for Latin America, Claudio Ethelma, and by the president of the Israelite Association of Venezuela, Elias Farache.
In the dialogue it was reaffirmed that there is absolute freedom of religion in Venezuela and a deep respect for the Jewish community, whose members have been an important factor in the social and economic development of the country.
That event was part of the working agenda of Minister Moratinos during his two-day official visit to Venezuela.
