During the last decade, scholarship awards to Venezuelan students by the Gran Mariscal de Ayacucho Foundation (Fundayacucho) have increased 297%.
The announcement was made by the foundation's president, Jorge Arreaza, in a statement made to the Bolivarian News Agency (ABN). Arreaza said that between 1999 and 2008 the Bolivarian Revolution has granted 226,651 scholarships; while between 1975 and 1998, this program only benefited 54,535 students.
"Fundayacucho was an elitist institution that only awarded a few hundred scholarships each year, however, with the arrival of the Bolivarian government thousands of students have been incorporated into this program," emphasized Arreaza.
Fundayacucho is part of the Ministry of People's Power for Higher Education and has a 33 year history of investing in the professional development of thousands of Venezuelans in national and international educational institutions.
