National production of food continues to increase

The National Socialist Company Dairy of the Andes (ENLANDES) is currently producing 220,000 liters of pasteurized milk. Before passing into state hands last March, the company was producing 22,000 liters daily.

After being recovered, ENLANDES was incorporated into the network of Venezuelan Producers and Distributors of Food (PDVAL), becoming the most important milk pasteurizing company in the country. The company has more than 45,000 points of sale nationally.

The company's production includes: 25% liquid milk, 18% dairy derivatives, and 56% juice and nectar. A milk and butter plant in Zulia state was also reactivated.

During Alo President No. 333, broadcast from Táchira, a state in western Venezuela, President Hugo Chavez emphasized that in Venezuela "we are on the way to food independence."

Production of cattle has also increased

The president emphasized that currently the country has 12 million head of cattle and expects that in three years the number will reach 14 million. "We are going up to 20 million.
