Maestro José Antonio Abreu characterized the international tour of the Simón Bolívar Youth Symphony Orchestra as tremendous and unprecedented.
He made the statements on Sunday at Maiquetía Airport in Venezuela upon the orchestra’s arrival. The Child Chorus of Cantv telephone company greeted the orchestra at the airport.
“The Venezuelan flag is grand and glorious. Gustavo Dudamel has directed a tremendous tour without precedents or parallels in Latin America, and I think the world, where over 50 thousand people acclaimed the orchestra everywhere for its technical brilliance, marvelous repertoire and, above all, for the symphonic, musical, artistic genius of Gustavo, who has broadcast an incredible image of the country,” Maestro Abreu expressed.
Director Gustavo Dudamel emphasized that Venezuela is held in very high regard, and that lots of countries want to copy the project that Maestro Abreu has created.
Regarding a concert he is conducting in the state of Lara on Monday, for the re-opening of Juárez Theater, Dudamel noted that he was excited because that is where he made his musical debut.
In a message to Venezuelan youth, Dudamel stressed the importance of following one’s dreams.
“The orchestras teach children how to be better citizens. Team work is the main value that this musical organization instills in the country’s children and youths,” he indicated.
