President Hugo Chávez designated Roy Chaderton as a candidate for Ambassador in the United States. The announcement was made following the plenary session of the Fifth Summit of the Americas.
The President indicated that he already gave instructions to Nicolás Maduro, Minister of People’s Power for Foreign Affairs, to prepare the designation of a new Venezuelan Ambassador to the United States.
“I already spoke with Roy Chaderton and I have designated him as a candidate to be the ambassador; now we have to wait for the U.S. to give him the placet so Chaderton can assume this important office in order to guide this new era of political and economic relations,” President Chávez said.
“It is very important that we strengthen our energy, trade and political relations on the basis of respect,” he added.
