This year 89 community police stations are scheduled to be set up throughout the Caracas metropolitan area, announced Tareck El Aissami, Minister of People’s Power for the Interior and Justice.
The statement was made on Wednesday during a review of a community police station on Morán Avenue in Caracas.
The Minister emphasized that this initiative is designed to find out the needs and demands of communities, and that these stations will respond directly to the community, which will have oversight over this police service.
“We are evaluating whether these stations complete their tasks and missions, to see how we can meet the demands and needs of communities,” El Aissami noted.
He explained that community police stations work with motorcycle-taxis, public bus drivers, community councils, building condominium boards, and other groups.
“We are going to replicate and deepen these efforts throughout the Caracas metropolitan area with the support of communities,” the Minister stressed.
