Tareck El Aissami, Minister of People’s Power for the Interior and Justice, announced the seizure of 353 kilograms of cocaine in Valencia, a city in the state of Carabobo.
In a telephone interview with ‘La Noticia’ of Venezolana de Televisión, the Minister explained that the seizure was made in a Valencia neighborhood in an operation by the Corps for Scientific, Penal and Criminal Investigations (CICPC) led by Commissioner Wilmer Flores Trosel.
El Aissami indicated that on Thursday another CICPC commission will go to a ranch near the Colombian border in the state of Yaracuy. 24 kilograms of cocaine were seized at this ranch, named ‘Hato La Estrella’.
Six people were arrested as a result of these operations, all members of a gang that operated in Carabobo.
“This is another hard blow to the mafias and criminal organizations that use our territory to traffic drugs to other countries,” El Aissami emphasized.
The Minister made a point of stressing the achievements made by the Bolivarian government in the fight against drugs. He also highlighted government policies to strengthen this fight.
According to El Aissami, these policies implemented by the government have been spoken about around the world, “and today we are internationally known as one of the countries with the best results on this issue, and [this seizure] is another example of that.”
“We answer those irresponsible campaigns, which continue to claim the government is not doing anything with respect to fighting drug trafficking, with results” he emphasized.
