During ‘Operative Madriguera’ (Operation Hideout) that took place on Friday morning, agents from the Metropolitan Police’s Office of Investigations seized 360 kilograms of marijuana in the Manga Jova sector of the old Caracas – La Guaira highway.
Carlos Alberto Meza, Director of the Metropolitan Police (PM), made the announcement during a press conference from the PM offices in the Caracas neighborhood of Maripérez.
He emphasized that the drugs were ready for distribution throughout Metropolitan Caracas, “but thanks to the timely intervention of the Office of Investigations, the gangs have been dismantled.”
Meza also announced the arrest of three suspects found close to the area where the seizure was made.
The arrested citizens were identified as Jesús Adrián Manzano, José Daniel Villegas Manzano and Daniel Rafael Ledezma Itriago. They will be questioned to see if they are connected to the seized marijuana.
Director Meza noted that three 12 caliber rifles, two tear gas canisters and several ammunition cartridges were also seized.
On another topic, Meza said that so far this week 800 straws filled with cocaine have been seized in the La Vega neighborhood of Caracas.
Last Monday, March 2nd, the PM seized 13 kilograms of marijuana in Caracas’ Antímano neighborhood. This seizure resulted in the arrest of Damián Álvarez Jackson, who has been handed over to the Public Ministry.
