The government of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, in defense of the sovereignty of the Venezuelan people, categorically and firmly rejects the publication of a United States State Department report which purports to evaluate the general state of human rights in various countries of the world, including Venezuela.
The Venezuelan government considers this recurring practice of the bureaucracy of the United States unacceptable, in which officials serving the State with the darkest record of violations and abuses of human dignity in contemporary history endeavor to appoint themselves, with absolutely no mandate nor legitimacy, as judges of other States.
The Bolivarian government of Venezuela rejects the false, ill-intentioned and meddlesome contents of the report in question that uses baseless arguments and is composed of anti-Venezuelan opinions spread by sectors that, inside and outside of our country, refuse to accept that the Venezuelan people are in charge of their own destiny.
The government of President Hugo Chávez urges the authorities of the United States to end these practices that continue hurting relations between our States; relations that should be based on respect, equality and non-interference in domestic affairs. The sovereign government of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela will always defend these fundamental principles on behalf of our people.
