With 54.36% of the vote, the "Yes" vote won the referendum held on Sunday in Venezuela, according to the first official results released with 94.2% of the vote counted.
The announcement was made by Tibisay Lucena, President of the National Electoral Council (CNE), in a press conference at 9:35 p.m. on Sunday night.
17 million citizens registered in the CNE had the opportunity to exercise their vote in this referendum for a constitutional amendment
On February 15th, Venezuelans, displaying the civic-mindedness and democratic mood which characterizes them, underwent a historic electoral process.
The amendment would edit five Articles of the Constitution to lift term limits that prevent the people from reelecting officials who have met their expectations.
