According to an article published in the early afternoon by Venezuelan newspaper “El Universal”, Enrique Lander, a representative from Ojo Electoral (Electoral Eye), a Venezuelan civil organization, emphasized the quickness of the electoral process as well as average voter turnout. Voting began early in the morning throughout the country.
Lander highlighted “the democratic mood of Venezuelan society” in affirming the normalcy characterizing the electoral process, with very few exceptions. He also noted that voting stations were in complete operation by 10 in the morning.
Finally, the NGO representative said that polling stations were operating normally, affirmed the presence of witnesses from both the Yes and the No blocs, and recognized the efforts of election volunteers who “have been key for the successful development of the [process].”
