The Director of the National Electoral Council (CNE), Sandra Oblitas, said that as of early morning hours, 99 percent of electoral officials, voting machine operators and support technicians are present at their posts.
Oblitas noted that positive reports have been received regarding the installation of voting stations and said that the process has begun in an excellent, positive fashion with wide participation.
“We are surpassing our own projections and there have been no significant complaints filed,” she indicated.
The CNE Director said the electoral campaign official ended on February 13th at midnight, which is why she called upon political actors to act responsibly and with the respect that voters deserve so as to allow them to exercise their right to vote today. At the end of the day, the CNE will announce the results.
Oblitas said that a voting hotline (0800-VOTEMOS, in Venezuela) has been set up to allow voters, as well as regional offices, to keep in constant communication with the Electoral Branch of government.
