OUR MISSION

We are a foreign service organization for the Foreign Affairs Ministry in Venezuela represented in New York City. Our powers are outlined mainly in The Vienna Convention of Consular Relations of 1963 and in the Organic Law of Consular Services, reformed in 1987. In general terms we are an active entity capable of carrying out activities of economic, touristic and cultural nature. Our mission is to exercise notarial functions, register of births, marriages and deaths, provide with identifications and applications for foreigners going to Venezuela, and certain activities in the legal field, among others. A number of internal laws regulate the consular practices abroad.

IMPORTANT:
Internationall treaties state that foreign diplomatic missions can not have any involvement in immigration issues in the receiving state, that is,the United States in our case.

Our jurisdiction encompasses the states of New York, Connecticut, Delaware, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Vermont, and Rhode Island.
