The National Electoral Council of Venezuela agreed to support with technical and logistical assistance on the primary elections of the opposition party, Democratic Unity Roundtable, after a request was submitted to the President Tibisay Lucena this Tuesday.
The election will be held on May 17, and starting tomorrow a series of meetings will be made to determine the scope of the event. In this primary election, the Democratic Unity Roundtable party will choose their candidates for the National Assembly’s election.
The electoral authorities approved the request in an extraordinary session held on Tuesday, given the time constraints to hold this election with success.
In this regard, because this proposal was presented with urgency, and to guarantee the technical and logistical aspects of the primary elections, the National Electoral Council requested the United Socialist Party of Venezuela to reschedule their primary elections, initially scheduled for June 7. This suggestion was accepted by the organization, and the election will now be held on June 21.
