OPEC ambassadors Group Created in Venezuela



The Venezuelan Foreign Ministry on Thursday gathered Ambassadors and Charges d’affaires of the member countries of the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC), to formalize the creation of a permanent group of representatives of this body in our country.

During the meeting, held at the premises of the “Antonio José de Sucre” Yellow House (Seat of the Chancellory in Caracas), the ministers of People´s Power for Foreign Affairs, Delcy Rodriguez; and of Oil and Mining, Asdrubal Chavez, stressed the importance of OPEC and emphasized the leading role that Venezuela has had since its inception, with the help of then Minister of Mines and Hydrocarbons, Juan Pablo Pérez Alfonzo.

The creation of the Group of OPEC Ambassadors in Venezuela, is part of the efforts jointly advanced by the Bolivarian Government and other countries interested in promoting an international consensus that allow to stabilize oil prices and keep them at a fair level.

Since its inception, OPEC has promoted the strengthening of the international hydrocarbons market, allowing oil producing countries to obtain a reasonable return on their investments and ensuring the continuous and stable supply of oil for the consuming countries.

Oil producing and exporting countries that make up the OPEC are: Angola, Saudi Arabia, Algeria, Ecuador, UAE, Iraq, Kuwait, Nigeria, Qatar, the Islamic Republic of Iran, Socialist Republic of Libya and Venezuela.
