The President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolas Maduro, appreciated the statement issued by countries in the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America (ALBA) in support of Venezuela and rejecting U.S. harassment.
While reading the ALBA statement, which rejects sanctions announced by the US Congress against a group of Venezuelan public servants, the Venezuelan President said that "Alba has reacted, and Latin America begins to react against this threat of sanctions from the imperialist elite that do not understand what we are, who we are and how we love this country from our souls."
Communiqué by the ALBA-PTA Rejecting the Aggressions of The United States of America Against the Venezuelan People
The Countries of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America – People’s Trade Agreement (ALBA-PTA) express their strong rejection to the current interventionist actions of promoted by the U.S. Congress.
The so called “Venezuela Defense of Human Rights and Civil Society Act of 2014” which was approved by the U.S. Consgress and Senate constitute an incitment towards destabilization in the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, opening the gates to an unconstitutional actions against the legal and legitimately elected Government of President Nicolas Maduro Moros.
It becomes quite clear once again how the North-American far right uses its economic an political power to attack the sovereign and independent peoples of our America.
The intended sanctions of the United States against citizens of a sovereign country under the name of the Human Rights are surprising and immoral in a moment when the Intelligence Committee of the Senate of the United States has just revealed a report about the shamefull methods used by the Central Agency of Intelligence of the U.S., including brutal tortures and degrading actions against suspects detained under arbitray methods , and at times when police violence against Afro-American people is a common practice in that country.
It calls our attention that the arguments supporting the proposed application of sanctions against Venezuelan officials are linked more to supposed economic management reasons than to verifiable Human Rights violation events.
Additionally, it is absurd that the information sources used by the promoters of such aggression against Venezuela are local and international non-governmental organizations financed by the United States or by right-wing organizations from its allied countries.
The Countries of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America – People’s Trade Agreement (ALBA-PTA) want to emphasize that they will not allow the use of old practices already implemented in countries of the region, aimed at promoting a change of political regime just as was the case in other parts of the world. In this sense, we express our absolute support and solidarity with the people and Government of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela.
The Countries of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America – People’s Trade Agreement (ALBA-PTA) strongly reiterates that any aggression whatsoever, whether of legal, economic or political nature, against the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela constitutes a violation of international law and against any member countries of ALBA -TCP , and reserves the right to give proper response to such actions.
